Summary
Dr. Todd Wolynn says, “What I’ve seen over my many years in practice is that physicians are not really empowered to do creative things or to think outside of the box.”
But Todd is different. He sees himself as an entrepreneur trapped inside a physician’s body.
And that means constantly trying new things.
“If we think something will improve patients’ health, and our CFO says it won’t break the bank, then we’re totally up for trying it.”
And pediatricians that make those choices can change the entire healthcare system for the better.
So little attention is paid to pediatrics – Todd says a mentor once explained it to him as “budgetary dust”.
And yet our largest cost centers in healthcare – obesity, heart disease, arthritis, etc…
Begin developing when a child is young.
By focusing on prevention at an early age,
we avoid a reactive approach that focuses on treatment when the problems have gotten out of hand.
But it all starts with pediatricians, making choices.
